Wild Heerbrugg manufactured a variety of precision instruments and tools for numerous industies, most notably the surveying and construction industries. Wild Heerbrugg's diverse selection of surveying and construction measurement instruments included theodolites, total stations, construction levels and Distomat electronic distance meters. The company was also well renowned for their extensive selection of precision microscopes and stereomicroscopes designed for medical and industrial applications. Wild Heerbrugg was founded in 1921 by three Swiss technicians in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. The original company name was Heinrich Wild, Werksttte fr Feinmechanik und Optik which was changed to Wild Heerbrugg in 1937. The company merged with Ernst Leitz AG in 1987 and was renamed Wild Leitz AG in 1989. In 1990 it became a subsidiary of the Leitz company and is now known as Leica Geosystems. Throughout the years they consistently built surveying tools and other precision instruments to the highest industry standards.
